SEO

If you own a business then one of the main things you need to know is that your customers are looking for your particular product or service every single day using the internet. What I mean by this is that your potential customers are going to the search engines every single day and typing in keywords related to your business in hopes that they will find what they’re looking for.

The problem is that many people still don’t have a website and even if they do then nine times out of ten it is not using the correct search engine optimisation principles. Now just in case you have never heard of search engine optimisation or “SEO” for short, it is essentially making sure that your website is using the correct website practices to make sure that it is optimised for the search engines.

Now what does this mean?

Well first of all we need to make sure that we include our keyword that we want to rank for in the content of the page. So for example let’s say that we own a local plumbing business and we want to rank for “Southampton Plumber”, well then we need to be sure that we are including that keyword in the written content of the page.

Now one thing I will say about including your keywords in your page content is that you need to be very careful not to keyword stuff. Keyword stuffing is essentially where you are placing you keywords to many times in your content and so it hurts the readability of the content and makes for a bad user experience.

Years ago people who considered themselves SEO’s used to keyword stuff like crazy and would have there keywords appear in every possible way inside the content to the extent that they keyword density was way over 5% which is just ridiculous.

This then resulted in Google giving those particular website a penalty and ultimately deindexing the website from the search engines.

Another thing you want to do when trying to rank your website in the search engines is to get some good backlinks from websites width high domain authority and also ensure that those backlinks are using the anchor text that you wish to rank for.

Anchor text is the line of text which becomes a clickable link on the website.

So for example I was recently looking for the best SEO services London and I came across the website that I have just linked to. In fact this is actually where I learned a lot of the information that I am writing about right now.

The reason I was interested in that company was because they had a lot of testimonials from past customers and they had many screenshots of previous rankings.

One of the companies that they have worked with previously was not even ranked on the search engines and then within one month of working with http://www.uptobyte.com/they were actually ranking on the first page of Google and Bing.

If this isn’t an incredible result then I don’t know what is.
